FLATS & Project Row House Workshops

Project Row Houses & FLATS will be collaborating for the first time to present Fundamentals of Writing an Artist Statement, as part of PRH’s ongoing Business Skills for Artists and Creatives workshop series.

Join us Thursday, September 21 at 5pm in the Community Gallery at 2521 Holman to learn best practices for communicating your artistic vision. Community artists from PRH and FLATS will walk through the writing process from getting started to editing and final product.

PRH is a community platform that enriches lives through art with an emphasis on cultural identity and its impact on the urban landscape, engaging neighbors, artists, and enterprises in collective creative action to help materialize sustainable opportunities in marginalized communities. PRH occupies a significant footprint in Houston’s Historic Third Ward, one of the city’s oldest African-American neighborhoods. The site encompasses five city blocks and houses 39 structures that serve as a home base to a variety of community-enriching initiatives, art programs, and neighborhood development activities.

Founded in 2016, FLATS is a woman-owned and artist-run photography and education space in the heart of Houston’s Montrose neighborhood whose mission is to support artistic collaboration in the Houston community and the wider Southern regional photo communities as well.
